Edgerton, Brodhead softball to meet again, other scores

Edgerton High’s softball team will get another crack at Brodhead, this time with much more at stake.


The Crimson Tide (15-6) blanked visiting Clinton, 5-0 on Tuesday to win a WIAA Division 2 regional semifinal game and advance to Thursday’s final at Brodhead with the top-seeded Cardinals.


Brodhead (20-2) won 4-2 in the only regular-season meeting game between the Rock Valley Conference powerhouses.


Caitlin Johnson pitched a complete-game five-hitter, while Anne Tronnes led a 12-hit attack with three hits, including a triple in a four-run third.

Stampfli struck out nine and allowed only five hits in the complete-game victory.


Brodhead’s Tia Collins was 2-for-4 with three runs scored.

-- Fort Atkinson 11, McFarland 3—Badger South champion Fort Atkinson broke away from a 5-3 lead in its final three at-bats to eliminate McFarland in a Division 2 regional semifinal game.


Fort notched 13 hits, including Lexi Weigand’s two-run homer in the sixth inning. Emilie Bakken scattered six hits through five innings to notch the victory and tie 2006 graduate Annie Kotz for the most career victories with 43.


Fort hosts Jefferson in Thursday’s regional finals.
