— The Janesville 9 year-old Little League baseball tournament team was knocked out of the Cal Ripken Ohio Valley Regional with Monday’s 6-5 loss to Newberg, Ind.

Janesville, the No. 1 seed in the opening round of the eight-team single-elimination finals, held a 5-3 lead, but No. 8-seeded Newberg rallied for three runs on three hits, two errors and two walks in its final time at bat for the victory.

“We have to take our hats off to (Newberg),” Janesville coach Brian Bailey said. “They are a good team.

“It was a great run for Janesville,” Bailey added.

Jordan Bailey had three hits and Ben Coulter had two hits in leading Janesville’s eight-hit attack.
