Pat Campbell will be a “traveling man” during the next week.

As head coach for both the Janesville Babe Ruth 15-under all-star squad that is playing in the state tournament, and the Janesville 9-year-old all-star team that is in the regional tournament in Louisville, Ky., Campbell has a full dance card.

The 15-year-old Babe Ruth squad opens play at Eau Claire this morning against Marinette. The 10-team tournament is double-elimination.

Colin Frey will be Janesville’s starting pitcher.

Campbell said Appleton, which finished second in last season’s national world series, and Eau Claire are the favorites in the state tournament.

If Janesville defeats Marinette, the local team will play Ashland at 6 p.m. today.
