Murphy leads Wisconsin State Am

— Kyle Murphy, playing out of the Eau Claire Golf & Country Club, leads Kenosha’s Jordan Elsen by a stroke going into today’s third round of the Wisconsin State Amateur Championship at the Bull at Pinehurst Farms.

Murphy shot a 1-under 71 in Tuesday’s second round and is at 5-under. Elsen shot an even-par 72 and is at 4-under.

Edgerton’s Dan Ozga leads the list of area participants. He shot a 72 and is at 4-over, which is good for a tie for 23rd. Lake Geneva’s Alex Gaugert is tied for 53rd at 10-over, while Janesville’s Matt Behm is tied for 59th at 11-over.

Beloit’s Erik Botts is tied for 106th at 17-over. Fort Atkinson’s Evan Wartgow is at 20-over, while Lake Geneva’s Richard Pfeil is at 21-over. Curt Langille of Lake Geneva is 23-over.
