Raptors win on road
“It was a must-win for us,” Raptors coach Doug Welch said. “If we want to make the playoffs, we have to get over Watertown.’’
Fourth-place Watertown (7-5) remains a half-game ahead of Milton (7-6). The top four teams make the league playoffs.
Jon Kas ripped a two-run double in the eighth inning to put the Raptors ahead 4-0. Watertown bounced back with two runs a walk, a double and a pair of singles off starter Joe Shere, who was cruising along with a four-hit shutout.
“It could have been worse,” Welch said. “Joe (Shere) got a strikeout with two runners on to get out of the jam.’’
Shere finished with eight strikeouts and two walks to take the victory.
The Raptors had 12 hits. Francisco Roque went 3-for-5 with an RBI double, and Jim Coulter had two hits.
Milton hosts three-time league champion Clyman at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Schilberg Park.
