— Police have made an arrest in a home and business burglary that occurred in Janesville.

Trevor A. Gregoire, 20, of 45 S. Concord Drive, Janesville, was arrested on charges of criminal trespass to a home in the 2400 block of Cherokee Road, burglary to Smokerís World Discount Tobaccos, 2622 E. Milwaukee St., and felony theft at Smokerís World, according to a department press release.

Gregoire was taken into custody at 3:11 a.m. Wednesday after he was chased by a teen of a family who lives in the 2400 block of Cherokee Road, said Sgt. Aaron Ellis.

The teen awoke at 1:02 a.m. Wednesday after hearing someone on the roof of the house. He went outside and chased the suspect, realizing he recognized him as a former classmate. A family member called police after the teen returned home.

Based on information the teen gave police, they were able to surround the area and find Gregoire two hours after the chase.

Police also are questioning Gregoire about a burglary and two attempted burglaries that happened in the same neighborhood July 1, Ellis said.

Gregoire also admitted to the burglary to Smokerís World, which was reported at 2:12 a.m. Wednesday, June 30. Stolen were 420 packs of herbal spices valued at $20,000 and an undetermined amount of cash.
