— The death of a dog left in a hot vehicle in Beloit means the arrest of a Wausau woman.

Beloit police say 24-year-old Anisha butalla was reportedly attending a court matter in Janesville while a 2-year-old pit bull was left for nearly four hours in a car in the Wal-Mart parking lot.

Police tried to contact the owner of the car, but were successful, so they broke the windows in the car to rescue the dog. The dog died at the scene.

Butalla was arrested for felony mistreating an animal, resulting in death.
