— Beloit police Captain Bill Tyler says an autopsy, conducted Monday, verifies the deaths of two weekend homicide victims was caused by gunshots.

The bodies of 27 year-old Cortez Johnson and 24 year-old Latoya Payton, both of Beloit, were found inside a vehicle on the city's near West side early Sunday morning.

Tyler says this was not a murder suicide, and it doesn't appear to be gang related. He says he thinks the victims were targeted and the incident was not random.
