July 1, 2010
— Bobby Nichols has stepped down as Milton High School girls soccer coach.

Nichols will retain his position as physical education teacher at the school.

“Officially, I’ve taken a one-year sabbatical,” Nichols said. “Most likely, I won’t come back at all.’’

Nichols has two young sons and his wife, Anne, is the choir director at

McFarland High School.

Nichols coached the girls for 15 years and was Milton boys coach from 1995 to 2000. Nichols’ girls teams won one Badger South title, five Southern Lakes championships and made it to two sectional finals.

“I love soccer, and I love coaching the girls, but I’ve got to be a dad for a while,” Nichols said. “It’s going to be hard (not coaching) and seeing the girls in school.’’
