Beloit men force St. Norbert into overtime; St. Norbert controls women's game

— The Beloit College men’s basketball team came close to pulling off an upset Saturday of 12th-ranked St. Norbert College.

Unfortunately for the Buccaneers, the Green Knights pulled away in overtime for a 77-69 Midwest Conference win at Flood Arena.


Orfordville Parkview graduate Michael Horton forced overtime for Beloit by hitting a three-point shot with five seconds left in regulation, but St. Norbert outscored the Bucs 12-4 in the extra session.


Four players scored in double figures for St. Norbert (16-1, 10-0), led by Chris Peterson with 18 points. John Taylor added 17 points for the Green Knights, while Dave Wipperfurth and Paul Mallers scored 14 points each.


St. Norbert shot 16 more free throws than Beloit (5-12, 3-7) and made 13 more.


David Bremmer scored 20 points to lead the Bucs, Edgerton’s Travis Towns added 15 and Horton finished with 13.
