Craig boys fall at La Follette
MADISON A promising start could not keep Janesville Craig from setting a boys basketball record it did not want to have.
Craig High jumped out to a 7-2 lead at Madison La Follette on Friday night. The lead did not last for long, and the Lancers eventually pulled away to a 68-45 Big Eight Conference victory.
The loss put the Cougars at 0-12 in the Big Eight and 0-15 for the season. The 15 losses are the most any Craig team has ever suffered in a season.
La Follette improved to 5-7 and 7-7.
The Lancers erased the early five-point deficit by switching from a zone to a man-to-man defense.
Senior guard Bret Bates led the Cougars with 11 points, including one of two Craig three-pointers.
The Lancers countered with eight three-pointers, including seven in the first half, which ended with La Follette up, 36-21.
Jon Dybevik led the Lancers with 18 points, including four three-pointers. Maher Hakim added 15 points for the winners.

For all those quick to jump on Coach Miller and call high school kids names, have you coached a high school team before? My guess is no. In fact my guess is you haven't played on a high school team either.
Craig is a relatively young team with not a lot of height. Only 4 kids on the team this year played on it last year and only 2 of this years starters are seniors. (There are only 5 seniors on the entire team, and 6 juniors) It also doesn't help that the tallest guy(s) are listed at 6'3, this makes it pretty hard to defend the post effectively. And the fact that it's Millers 1st year as a varsity coach doesn't help things either. Give him, and the team, some slack. (or better yet how about we give them our support instead of ridicule)

As a Craig senior who played freshman and sophmore year I must say I resent being called a spoiled rich kid and its not exactly Miller's fault we're bad... we only won 3 games as sophmores with Masterson as our coach and 4 of the 5 starters on that team aren't currently playing. Think about that before you disrespect Coach Miller

Craig is reaping what it sows. Miller finally got his favorites. Live by the favorites, die by the favorites. How can a team continue committing the same mistake over and over and over. One word COACHING! For Miller, he can't see the forest through the trees. The players you see out there now are the ones that were groomed by Miller last year. But look on the bright side, there's always next year. But if he couldn't take care of the mistakes in two years, what makes him think next year will be any different?
