Elkhorn boys offense back, other scores

The offense is back in Elkhorn High boys basketball.


Despite missing 20 free throws, the Elks hit the 60-point mark for the second time this week as they broke a five-game losing streak with 61-41 victory Thursday in Southern Lakes action at Wilmot.


Skyler O’Laughlin led the way with 24 points, including six in a 17-8 second quarter that pulled Elkhorn (7-7, 4-3) away from an 11-11 tie.


Brock Poggensee backed O’Laughlin, a 6-11 senior, with 17 points for Elkhorn. Chris Nelson led Wilmot (3-10, 0-6) with 19 points, including five three-point goals.

-- Waterford 69, Delavan-Darien 52—Southern Lakes leader Waterford (11-2, 7-0) got off to a fast start and had too much firepower for host Delavan-Darien (6-7, 3-5).


Greg Steffens scored eight of his game-high 18 points for Waterford in an 17-6 first quarter that put the Wolverines in control for good. Steffens also had two of his three three-point goals during that stretch.


Justin Fowlkes had a 15-point second half to finish with 17 for Delavan-Darien. Tyler Butke scored 12 for the Comets.

-- Westosha 66, Badger 57—Dustin Milz hit four three-point goals in the first quarter to spark Westosha Central’s victory in a Southern Lakes game at Lake Geneva.


Central (5-9, 5-3) led 18-9 after the first period and 34-21 at halftime.


Milz had 27 points and was the only Falcon in double figures. Preston Dailey led Badger (2-10, 1-7) with 13 points.
