Beloit girls win in 2 OTs, other scores

Hannah Lawver hit two key three-pointers to help Beloit Memorial High’s girls basketball team down host Monona Grove, 55-51, in two overtimes Thursday night.


The Purple Knights trailed by five points with 20 seconds left in the first overtime. Lawver, who finished with 10 points, hit a three-pointer to cut the lead to two.


Beloit then stole the ball, and Megan Slavish tied the game with a rebound basket to send the game into the second overtime.


Danielle Heldt and Slavish each scored 13 points to lead the Purple Knights.


Emily Schmitz scored 13 points, and Megan Blazer added 10 for the Silver Eagles.

-- Columbus 64, Lakeside 56 (OT)—The Cardinals (10-2, 4-1) handed the Warriors their first loss of the season behind 19 points from Sam Seltzner in a Capitol North showdown that left the two teams tied for first place with Lake Mills.


Lakeside (12-1, 4-1) got 14 points from Alex Anthon, and 12 each from Jenna Luisier and Hannah Hackbarth.
