Elks edge Badgers by one, other scores

Amy Blackbourn’s free-throw with 2.7 seconds remaining lifted Elkhorn to a 58-57 victory over visiting Lake Geneva Badger in Southern Lakes girls basketball action Tuesday.


Elkhorn held a 45-36 lead after three quarters, but Badger caught fire, rolling to a 21-13 advantage in the fourth quarter. Badgers’ downfall was making just one of 11 free throws, while the Elks (7-7,


3-4) made 18 of 26 attempts.


Carly Larson led the Elks’ balanced scoring with 15 points. Allison White added 14, Katherine Neshek 11, and Sammi Rogers chipped in 10 points for the Elks. Lana Weiseman scored a game-high 18 points and teammate Gina Ambrose added 11 for Badger (3-10, 2-5).

The Comets’ Courtney Flood led all scorers with 22 points, including an 8-for-8 performance from the line in the final quarter.


Teammate Alana Cesarz added 16 points.


Faith Lois scored 13 points while Abbie Reeves scored 11 points for Westosha Central.
