UW-Rock County men win on road, women lose
UW-Rock County got back to winning ways with a 68-47 victory over Western Tech in nonconference men’s basketball Monday in La Crosse.
After having its five-game winning streak snapped last Saturday, the Rattlers (12-7) kicked it up a notch in the second half to hammer Tech, 40-21, for the victory.
Tech held an 11-point lead in the first half, but UW-Rock rallied to take a 28-26 lead.
Fred Stewart scored a game-high 18 points and added 19 rebounds, while teammate Keifer Cary scored 13 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
UW-Rock will host UW-Barron on Saturday at 1 p.m.

UW-Rock women lose
UW-Rock County stayed right on the heels of Western Tech, but could not take the lead en route to a 59-55 loss in nonconference women’s basketball at La Crosse.
Western Tech broke to a 25-13 lead, but the Rattlers (4-14) battled back for a five-point lead. Western hit back-to-back three-point goals and kept the lead for good.
Nicole Skillman, a Janesville Craig graduate, scored 16 points and grabbed 18 rebounds. Ashley Oldenburg from Orfordville Parkview added 15 points and Tiffany Draeving of Parkview chipped in 14 points.
UW-Rock will host UW-Washington at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
