Hawkeyes roll past Hoosiers

— Just when it looked like Indiana was making strides, reality set back in for the young Hoosiers.

After consecutive Big Ten victories over Minnesota and Penn State, the Hoosiers were overmatched by Iowa in a disappointing 58-43 loss Sunday night.

Verdell Jones had 14 points and Christian Watford added 10 for the Hoosiers (9-10, 3-4 Big Ten), who won just one conference game last year in coach Tom Crean’s first season in Bloomington.

It was a step backward for Indiana after an 81-78 overtime victory against Minnesota and a 67-61 win at Penn State.

Aaron Fuller had 13 points to lead the Hawkeyes (8-12, 2-5).


-- Cleveland State 73, UW-Milwaukee 72—Norris Cole hit a three-pointer with 7 seconds left and Tim Kamczyc blocked Ja’Rob McCallum’s layup with 1 second to go to lift host Cleveland State to victory.

The Vikings (13-8, 5-4 Horizon League) trailed by as many as 11 points against the Panthers (12-9, 4-5) .

-- UW-Green Bay 69, Youngstown State 55—Troy Cotton scored 23 points and the Phoenix (15-7, 7-3 Horizon League) scored 25 points off 16 turnovers to win at Youngstown, Ohio.

Cotton hit a career-high 7 of 12 three-pointers against the Penguins (7-12, 2-8).
