Candidates for town boards prepare for upcoming election

Candidates for some town boards will have opposition in the April 6 election.

Here is a roundup of candidates who are running for town office:

Rock County

There are no town elections this year in the towns of Avon, Center, Johnstown, Magnolia, Newark, Plymouth, Porter, Rock, Spring Valley or Union.

Town of Beloit

-- Town board: Incumbent Phil Tabor, 2828 S. Riverside Drive, Beloit, is unchallenged. Jim Stephens, 4707 St. Lawrence Ave., Beloit, challenges incumbent Shannon Ladwig, 731 E. Philhower Road, Beloit.

Town of Clinton

-- Town board: Incumbent Bill Johns, 13009 E. Lakeshore Road, Clinton, and newcomer Amy Loudenbeck, 10737 S. Highway 140, Clinton, are unopposed. Supervisor Harry Rehberg does not seek re-election.

Town of Fulton

-- Town board: Three candidates, incumbent Dave Brown, 6313 N. River Road, Janesville; incumbent Ken Vietch, 10820 N. Dallman Road, Edgerton, and newcomer Mike Guisleman, 5424 W. Pomeroy Road, Edgerton, are running for two spots.

Town of Harmony

-- Town board: Two incumbents, William Barlass, 6145 E. County A, Janesville, and Charles Hanauska, 4919 N. Henke Road, Milton, are running unopposed for two spots.

Town of Janesville

-- Town board: Two incumbents, Gary Fox, 3926 N. Leith Road, Janesville, and David Rebout, 5227 W. Mineral Point Road, Janesville, are running unopposed for two spots.

Town of La Prairie

-- Town board: Incumbents Jeff Waller, 3136 S. Milton-Shopiere Road, Janesville, and John Lader, 3909 Wyoming Court, Janesville, are unopposed.

Town of Lima

-- Town board: Incumbents Bob Angew, 10501 Highway 59, Whitewater, and Mike Newell, 12524 E County N, Whitewater, are unopposed.

Town of Milton

-- Town board: Incumbent Marian Trescher, 9209 N. Trescher Road, Milton, and newcomer Leonard Stalker, 4316 E. County N, Milton, are running for two seats. Incumbent Michael Murphy is not running.

Town of Turtle

-- Town board: Incumbent Bill Brewer, 9819 S. Gustafson Road, Clinton, faces newcomers Les Oldenberg, Sr., 7529 S. Lathers Road, Beloit, and Ron Splan, 7832 S. Lathers Road, Beloit, for two seats. Incumbent Mike Schaefer does not seek re-election.

Walworth County

There are no town elections this year in the towns of East Troy, Lafayette, Lyons, Spring Prairie, Sharon, Sugar Creek, Troy, Walworth and Whitewater.

Town of Bloomfield

-- Town board: Incumbents Susan Leedle, N698 Ridge Road, Lake Geneva, and Daniel Schoonover, N1675 County H, Lake Geneva, face newcomers JoAnn Kendzior, W1316 Eastwood Road, Pell Lake, and Dave Nusberger, W873 Juneau Road, Genoa City, respectively.

-- Municipal judge: David Schiltz, W1338 Lake Geneva Highway, Lake Geneva, is unopposed in seeking election to the position to which he was appointed in April 2009.

Town of Darien

-- Town board: Incumbents Jim Terpstra, N3362 Elm Ridge Road, Delavan, and Matthew Smith, W8264 Highway 11, Delavan, are unchallenged.

Town of Delavan

-- Town board: Incumbent Barbara J. Militello, 3236 South Shore Drive, Delavan, is challenged by Richard W. Bonsall, 115 Glenwood Road, Williams Bay, and former board member Wayne K. Polzin, 7090 Delview Ave., Delavan, for two seats.

Town of Geneva

-- Town board: Incumbent Trish Fahey is not seeking re-election. Newcomers Gene Decker, W4159 Hemlock Road, Lake Geneva; Larry K. Kulik, W3768 South Shore Drive, Lake Geneva, and James Pody, W2728 Hospital Road, Lake Geneva, will face off in the primary election Feb. 16. Incumbent Steve Kukla, W3776 S. Shore Drive, Lake Geneva, is running unopposed.

Town of La Grange

-- Town chairman: Incumbent Frank Taylor, N8676 Tamarack Road, Whitewater, is running unopposed.

-- Town board: Incumbent Mark Bromley is not seeking re-election because he is running for Walworth County Circuit Court judge. Dan Wilson, W5910 Greening Road, Whitewater, is running unopposed.

Town of Linn

-- Town board: Incumbents Jeanne Myers Allis, W3691 Snake Road, Lake Geneva, and Gregory Holden, N1614 Reedsville Drive, Lake Geneva, are running unopposed.

Town of Richmond

-- Town board: Incumbent Carol Behrens, N6327 Highway 89, Delavan, faces newcomer Martin Brunner, W9076 County A, Delavan. Incumbent Tom Kraus, N5903 Johnson Road, Delavan, is running unopposed.
