— A lack of production on the offensive end continues to plague the Janesville Bluebirds.

Saturday night at the Janesville Ice Skating Center, Rhett Skibba’s hat trick lifted Big Eight Conference leader Middleton to a 6-1 win.

Janesville’s high school coop team has dropped three straight conference games and scored only three goals in the three games.

“You aren’t going to win many games when you score only one goal,” Janesville coach John Mauermann said. “But defensively, I thought we did some good things.

“For us, it comes down to the fact that to be successful, we’ve gotta do things pretty well. And tonight, we didn’t do that.” Cody Iverson scored Janesville’s only goal with 21 seconds left in the game. Janesville (8-8, 6-4) will play at Madison West on Tuesday night.
