Free throws proved to be the difference for Milton High’s girls basketball team Friday night.


The Red Hawks made 10 of 12 free throws in the fourth quarter and held on for a 42-40 nonconference win over DeForest (9-6).


Freshman Morgan Blumer had 14 points for Milton (10-1) before leaving the game with an injury.

n Monroe 59, Fort Atkinson 34—The Cheesemakers, ranked No. 1 in Division 2, hammered the outscored the Blackhawks 20-9 in the first quarter and cruised to a Badger South victory.


Gwen Sutter and Jamie Armstrong scored 15 points apiece to lead Monroe (12-0, 6-0), which dropped Fort to 1-5 in the conference and 4-8 overall.
