Palmyra-Eagle at East Troy


Zach McDonough played a key role Friday night in a critical victory for Evansville High’s boys basketball team.


McDonough, a 5-11 senior, scored all 11 of his points in the second half and had nine steals in the game to lead Blue past visiting Edgerton, 52-49, in a Rock Valley North matchup.


In avenging three losses to the Crimson Tide last season, Evansville (8-5, 6-2) stayed a game behind first-plac East Troy (9-3, 7-1) in the division race.


Evansville overcame a 13-6 deficit after the first quarter. The Blue Devils hit 10 of 13 free throws in the final quarter to overcome four Crimson Tide three-pointers.


Brian Lunde scored 19 points to lead the Blue Devils. Casey Moseley added 11.


Adam Gregory led Edgerton (4-10, 2-6) with 19 points, including nine in the first quarter.

The Trojans broke away from 31-23 halftime lead with a 19-9 advantage in the third quarter.


Tony Bilderbeck had 15 points for Whitewater (5-8, 3-5).

n McFarland 69, Jefferson 47—Brett Kaether made three of his four three-point baskets in the first quarter to pace the Spartans (7-6, 4-4) to a 20-13 lead.


Kaether finished with 18 points. Teammates Tyler Wedel and Paul Wedel added 15 and 11 points respectively. A.J. Neils scored 13 points and Peter Linsey chipped in 11 points for the Eagles (2-9, 1-7).

Kevin McGivern scored 20 points for Palmyra-Eagle.

Michael Walker made three of his four three-point goals in the first quarter and finished with 20 points. Nathan Nagel and Alex McGreevy added 13 points apiece and Steve Dowden chipped in 10 for Big Foot (6-7, 5-3).


Andrew Moen finished with 13 points for Clinton (6-7, 4-5).
