Katie Luessenhop

— A former elementary school teacher facing charges that she snorted heroin in a jail bathroom waived her right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday.

Katie M. Luessenhop, 27, formerly of Lake Geneva, was sentenced in June to six months in jail and three years probation on two counts of felony possession of heroin and one count of felony bail jumping.

Luessenhop is now charged with possession of narcotics after a random drug test came back positive for morphine, a metabolite of heroin, according to the criminal complaint.

She admitted to snorting a line of heroin in a Huber dormitory bathroom at the Walworth County Jail, according to the complaint. The drug was purchased from another inmate who also had work release privileges, according to the complaint.

i think hanks idea is wonderful! i think we should do that with many people in our jails. instead of them sitting here wasting money and space. they should be the ones over in iraq fighting this war and maybe learning a thing or two about how rough thier lives really are.

Hank: Recovery is possible no matter what substance the addicted person uses. As a Certified Addictions Registered Nurse, I've seen hundreds of people sustain recovery for many, many years (if not the rest of their lives). If I remember previous articles regarding this woman, she has been in treatment. Unfortunately, she has probably failed to use the skills ("tools") that she --- hopefully --- was taught while there.

its so sad but hank i have to agree with the last part of your comment. i know it is off topic but that is all you hear about, that is all everyone is trying to raise money for. yes it is devestating but we have people here on our home soil that need help! we need to take care of our own first!
