Bundy leads UW-Whitewater women

— Nicole Bundy scored 29 points and Cortney Kumerow added 25 to lead No. 16 UW-Whitewater to a 79-65 victory over visiting UW-Platteville in Wisconsin Intercolleigate Athletic Conference women’s basketball Wednesday.

Bundy and Kumerow combined to score 22 of Whitewater’s 39 first-half points to give the Warhawks a 39-32 lead. Each Warhawk cut loose in the second half with Bundy scoring 18 points and Kumerow adding 14.


Platteville scored the first basket of the second half to cut the deficit to five, but that was as close as they would get. The Warhawks built a fifteen point lead, twice, at 77-62 with 1:24 left and 79-64 with 0:49 remaining.


Whitewater made 8 of 16 three-point attempts, while Platteville made just three. The Warhawks shot 50 percent (32-63) from the floor while, while limiting Platteville to 43 percent (23-53).


Whitewater (13-4, 6-2) will host UW-Stevens Point next Wednesday at 7 p.m.
