Orfordville Parkview High School’s boys basketball team survived a scare Tuesday night to increase its Rock Valley South lead.

The Vikings (10-3) pulled away from visting Edgerton in the closing minutes to gain 44-38 victory and a 6-1 conference record that gave them a two-game lead in the loss column over Beloit Turner (5-3), Brodhead (4-3) and Walworth Big Foot (4-3).

Parkview played without star guard Nick Melton, who was sidelined for disciplinary reasons, but the Vikings had enough to fight off upset-minded Edgerton (4-9, 2-5) in a crossover game that was tied 28-28 after three quarters.

After missing six straight free throws in the fourth quarter, Parkview made five of six down the stretch to gain some breathing room. Cameron Zipse’s three-point goal with three minutes left gave Parkview a 35-31 lead.

Jay Naatz led Parkview with 10 points and was the game’s only double-figure scorer.
