Beloit city officials are watching the progress of renovations at Countryside Village Apartments on Freeman Parkway closely.
Almost a month ago, dozens of tenants were evacuated after much of the complex was posted unfit. City Housing Services Director Tom Clippert is hopeful problems can be corrected now that the absentee landlord has hired a local contractor. In the mean time, Clippert says some tenants have not evacuated units deemed unfit, and will be given citations by the city this week.
The city cites the top two problems for the facility as mold infestation, and no heat.

You must have missed the nice stories the Gazette ran on the Beloit Riverfest. Also, a nice article about a family in Beloit adopting children from Haiti.I would list more, but don't want to be late for work. I would commend the Gazette for giving us quality news.

I'm really tired of the janesville gazette always reporting on negative events in Beloit. Why do I never see positive events in Beloit in the gazette? Stop trying to make our city look bad and mind your own business. Personally, if an apartment complex was closing in janesville and beloit daily news reported on it, i would be thinking "why are you wasting time talking about that, and what does it have to do with beloit?".
