McFarland forces Jefferson to share Rock North lead; Edgerton, East Troy, Parkview, Brodhead, Big Foot win

Kaitlyn Eversoll shot McFarland High School’s girls basketball team into a first-place tie in the Rock Valley North on Friday night.


Eversoll made nine of 10 free throws in the fourth quarter as the visiting Spartans pulled away for a 60-52 win over Jefferson.


That boosted McFarland (8-3) to 5-1 in the conference and into a tie with Jefferson (7-2, 5-1), which beat the Spartans twice in overtime games last season to win the championship.


Jefferson, which got 19 points from Jessica Splittgerber, trailed by only one after three quarters but was outscored 17-10 in the final period.

Alicia Oleson had 16 points to lead East Troy, and Caitlin Dolan added 12.


Morgan Harty had 10 points for Whitewater (3-6, 3-3).

n Parkview 59, Turner 44—Orfordville Parkview (9-1, 5-1) bounced back from its first loss of the season to top visiting Beloit Turner (3-7, 1-5) in a Rock Valley South matchup.


The Vikings stayed tied with Brodhead for the division lead as Jenna Larsen scored 18 points and Breanna Ryan added 15.


Megan Grover had 15 points for the Trojans.

(3-4, 3-2) to the Rock Valley South win over visiting Clinton (4-7, 1-5).


The Chiefs took control in an 18-7 second quarter for a 32-19 halftime lead. They were up


49-35 after three quarters.


Kaleigh Young had 14 points for Big Foot, while Jen Petkoff added 11 and Courtney Spangler had 10.


Maggie Schultz paced the Cougars (4-7, 1-5) with a game-high 20 points.
