Lake Geneva Badger upset visiting Union Grove, 66-61, in Southern Lakes girls basketball Friday night.


In suffering their first conference loss, the Broncos (8-2, 5-1) fell into a first-place tie with idle Waterford (10-1, 5-1). Badger High (2-8, 2-4) moved from last place to a five-way tie for fourth.


The Badgers trailed 27-22 at halftime, but rode a 22-11 advantage in the third quarter to a 43-36 lead.


Lana Wieseman scored nine of her 15 points in the third quarter to pace the Badgers. Badger made 11 of 15 free throws in the fourth quarter to maintain the lead.


Gina Ambrose scored a team-high 16 points, including five of six free throws in the fourth quarter, for Badger. Anna Fronberry added 10 points for the Badgers.


Kaitlyn Wilks scored a game-high 18 points for Union Grove.

n Monroe 62, Elkhorn 28—The Division 2 top-ranked Cheesemakers (10-0) held a 36-17 halftime lead en route to a nonconference victory Friday night over the visiting Elks (5-7).


Chelsea Brice scored all 11 of her points, and teammate Gwen Sutter scored all nine of her points in the first half to lead Monroe. Jamie Armstrong scored 12 for the Cheesemakers.

n Elkhorn 53, Westosha 52—Elkhorn made five of six free throws in overtime and withstood Westosha Central’s 11 free-point goals for the game to gain a Southern Lakes victory Thursday night.


Central (6-4, 2-4) overcame a 40-24 deficit with the help of four three-point goals in the fourth quarter to force a 44-44 tie and the overtime. Carley Larsen then went 4-for-4 on free throws in the extra period to help visiting Elkhorn (5-6, 2-4) survive.


Sammi Rogers was the Elks’ leader with 11 points.


Abbie Reeves and Faith Lois each had five three-pointers in scoring 21 and 15 points, respectively, for Westosha
