Volunteers who want to help feed victims of Haiti’s earthquake will have their chance Saturday, Jan. 23.

Kids Against Hunger–Rock County Rotary will host a food-packaging event at 1741 Adel St., Janesville.

Volunteers age 6 and older will be asked to package food in three 90-minute shifts scheduled to begin at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Depending on community response, additional dates might be offered.

The local Kids Against Hunger is a cooperative effort of the Beloit, Edgerton, Janesville Morning and Janesville Noon Rotary clubs. It brings volunteers together to package nutritious, easy-to-prepare rice casseroles for hungry people in Rock County and around the world. To date, the group has provided more than 300,000 meals to thousands of children and adults in need.

Kids Against Hunger receives no government funding and relies entirely on the generosity of individuals, churches, civic groups and businesses to support its operation.

A donation of $20 from each volunteer is suggested to help defray the cost of ingredients.
