Parkview rolls to top, Evansville edges Clinton

A quick start was all Orfordville Parkview High School’s boys basketball team needed Thursday night, as the Vikings vaulted into sole possession of first place in the Rock Valley South.


Nick Melton scored 18 points, and Cole Isenberger added 16 as the visiting Vikings cruised to a 79-56 crossover win at Jefferson.


Parkview (9-3, 5-1) moved ahead of Beloit Turner (5-2), which lost to East Troy.


The Vikings stormed out to a 16-6 lead after the first quarter and pushed the advantage to 17 by halftime.


Sam Nevins led the Eagles (1-8, 0-6) with 10 points.

-- Evansville 64, Clinton 63—Brian Lunde’s two free throws with no time remaining gave host Evansville (7-4, 5-1) a Rock Valley crossover win and kept the Blue Devils tied with East Troy for the North Division lead.


Andrew Moen, who led Clinton (5-6, 3-4) with 15 points, gave the Cougars a 63-62 lead on a basket with 32 seconds left.


Lunde led Evansville with 21 points, and Casey Moseley added 17.

-- East Troy 71, Turner 58—East Troy outscored visiting Beloit Turner in every quarter to win a battle of Rock division leaders and snap the visitors’ eight-game winning streak.


The victory kept defending champion East Troy (6-3, 5-1) tied with Evansville for the North lead, while Turner (9-2, 5-2) fell a half-game behind Orfordville Parkview (9-3, 5-1) in the South.


Tanner Plomb scored 14 of his game-high 22 points in the fourth quarter to help East Troy secure its win.


Nate Dodge added 14 points for East Troy, and Myles Olsen had 12. Jordan Conway led Turner with 19, followed by Aaron Jones with 15 and Dan Schliesmann with 12.

J.J. Panoske led the Cardinals with 18 points.


Whitewater came back from a seven-point halftime deficit to get with a point in the final quarter, but could never get the lead.


Tony Bilderback led the Whippets with 18 points, including a three-pointer with three seconds left that resulted in the final score.

Edgerton (4-7, 2-4) pulled away from a 16-13 halftime edge with a 15-3 advantage in the third quarter.


Adam Gregory had 10 points for the Tide, and Ben Preuss paced Palmyra-Eagle (1-10, 0-6) with 13.
