JANESVILLE Get ready to rock at tonight’s Janesville Jets game.
Or, if you prefer, save your rocking for family skate time tomorrow afternoon.
The Janesville Ice Skating Center boasts a new sound system thanks to donations from Wal-Mart and some local families.
The system will be unveiled tonight before the Jets’ game versus the Motor City Metal Jackets.
The new system is a big improvement, Jets General Manager John McCally said.
“It’s dramatically different and, obviously, dramatically better,” McCally said. “Speaking on behalf of the Jets, it adds to our entertainment value.”
Wal-Mart made a $10,000 donation to the Janesville Youth Hockey Association, McCally said. The association turned the equipment over to the city of Janesville, he said.
Janesville hockey supporters Mark and Carol Cullen and Steve and Karen King contributed an additional $5,000 to help pay for additional equipment and installation costs, McCally said.
The Janesville Bluebirds, the youth hockey association, the Janesville Figure Skating Club, the Janesville Fury girls’ hockey teams and public skaters will be able to use the equipment, McCally said.
“It’s certainly a very nice complement to the action on the ice, which is fast-paced and hard-hitting,” McCally said.
