Janesville Bluebirds fall
MIDDLETON The Janesville Bluebirds are in the midst of a scoring drought.
For the second straight game, Janesville’s high school co-op hockey team managed only one goal in losing a 4-1 Big Eight clash to first-place Middleton.
Janesville (8-6, 4-3), which started the week in first place in the conference, trailed 2-1 after two periods but could not tie the game in the third as the Cardinals (6-0) scored twice.
“We had a flurry early in the game but could not finish,” Janesville coach John Mauermann said. “That hurt us, but we were still right there with them in the third.
“Our defensemen played well, but right now, we’re just not finishing at the net.”
