— UW-Whitewater shook off fiesty UW-Oshkosh for a 76-64 victory in Wisconsin Intercolleigate Conference women’s basketball Wednesday.

The victory lifted Whitewater (12-3, 5-1) into sole possesion of first place in the WIAC race as UW-River Falls dropped to 5-2 with a 67-52 loss to UW-La Crosse.

The Warhawks broke to a 18-10 lead, but the Titans rallied with a 10-2 run to tie it 20-20. Whitewater battled back to close the half, leading 37-33.

Oshkosh (5-10, 0-6) kept it close until Nicole Bundy’s basket with 10:12 remaining gave Whitewater a 54-44 lead.

Kelsey Hendrickson scored 23 points to pace Whitewater (12-3, 5-1). Chantel Burg scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for her first double-double, Cortney Kumerow added 13 points and Bundy finished with 10 for Whitewater.

Whitewater will play at UW-Eau Claire at 3 p.m. Saturday.
