UW-Rock County men win 4th straight, women win

UW-Rock County men’s basketball team continues to shine in the new year, defeating visiting Fox Valley Tech, 67-64, for its fourth straight victory.


The Rattlers (10-6) bounced back from a 38-25 halftime deficit. Fred Stewart scored 22 of his game-high 32 points in the second half to spark the rally.


UW-Rock also made up ground at the foul line, making 21 free throws to 11 for Fox Valley.


Stewart grabbed 17 rebounds for his third straight double-double. Gabe Mitchell, an Edgerton High graduate, added 16 points and Keifer Cary, a Clinton High grad, score 13 points and had 11 rebounds for his first double-double this season.


The Rattlers host UW-Baraboo at 7 p.m. next Wednesday.

UW-Rock women win

UW-Rock County defeated visiting Fox Valley Tech, 58-49, in college women’s basketball Wednesday.


In gaining their first victory since November, the Rattlers (3-9) jumped to a 28-14 first-half lead.


Tiffany Draeving, an Orfordville Parkview graduate, scored a season-high 25 points for UW-Rock. Ashley Oldenburg added 15 points for the Rattlers.


UW-Rock hosts host UW-Waukesha at noon Saturday.
