Fort Atkinson High School used a strong second quarter to roll past visiting Edgerton, 62-52, in nonconference boys basketball Monday.


Edgerton held a 14-12 first-quarter lead, but Fort rebounded with a 15-6 second-quarter advantage to take the lead for good, 27-20.


The Blackhawks (2-9) made 21 of 29 free throws to protect their lead.


Logan Schwandt and Michael Knutson scored 14 points apiece for Fort, while Brady Sexton added 13. Adam Gregory scored 14 points for Edgerton (3-8), including four three-point baskets and Danny Ozga chipped in 11 points.

-- Harvard 48, Big Foot 43—The Chiefs were held to single digits in the first three quarters en route to a loss to host Harvard, Ill., in nonconference boys basketball.


Harvard led 21-15 at the half and gained a 14-8 advantage in the third quarter for a 35-23 lead.


Mike Walker and Alec McGreevy scored 12 points apiece for Big Foot (5-5). Timmy Linhart scored 13 points to pace Harvard.

St. John’s rolled to a 39-21 halftime lead and put the game away with a 21-2 advantage in the third quarter for a 60-23 lead.


Tyler Tomczak scored 14 of his 20 points in the first half to lead Jefferson (1-7). P.J. Mlachnik scored 19 points to pace St. John’s.
