It wasn’t quite a buzzer-beater, but almost.


Brian Lunde hit a three-point shot from the top of the key with 10 seconds left Friday night to give Evansville High’s boys basketball team a 64-63 victory in a Rock Valley North thriller at Jefferson.


The win kept the Blue Devils (7-3) tied with East Troy for the division lead at 4-1.


Lunde finished with 21 points. Casey Moseley added 17 for the Blue Devils, while teammates Dylan Erickson Zach McDonough had 12 and 10, respectively.


Jefferson (1-6, 0-5)) led 63-61 on Tyler Tomczak’s basket with 35 seconds left. But the Eagles then missed five consecutive free throws down the stretch, and a three-point half-court shot at the buzzer hit the backboard and the rim before bouncing off.


Tomczak finished with 23 points for Jefferson. Pete Linse added 12, and A.J. Neils had 10.

n East Troy 59, Edgerton 31—East Troy pulled away from a one-point lead with a 35-8 outburst in the fourth quarter for a Rock Valley North win at Edgerton.


Brett Bouwman scored all 11 of his points in the deciding quarter, while Scot Beckwith added eight of his 14 points. Nate Dodger added 13 points in the victory that kept the defending champion Trojans (5-3) tied for the division lead at 4-1.


The Crimson Tide fell to 1-4 in the North and 3-7 overall.

n Whitewater 56, McFarland 52—The Whippets made 11 of 15 free throws in the fourth quarter to post a Rock Valley North victory at McFarland.


Tony Bilderback and David Shears had five points each in the fourth quarter to pace the Whippets (5-5, 3-2), who won with a 20-15 advantage in the last eight minutes. Bilderback finished with 16 points.


Mike Mitchell added 13 points, and Mike Gabby had 11 for Whitewater.


Brett Kaether scored a game-high 17 points for McFarland (3-6, 1-4). Tyler Weedle added 14, and James Runde scored 11.

n Turner 58, Brodhead 52—Beloit Turner rallied in the fourth quarter to knock off defending champion Brodhead and grab the Rock Valley South lead at 5-1.


The host Trojans (9-1) rolled to a 17-10 first-quarter lead, but the Cardinals (5-4, 2-3) had a 39-38 lead after three quarters.


Jordan Conway scored nine of his 19 points in the fourth quarter to help put Turner into the lead.


A.J. Bernstein followed Conway with 18 points, and Aaron Jones had 10 for Turner. J.J. Panoske led Brodhead with 15 points, followed by Nick Jacobson with 12 and Mike Peterson with 11.


Turner received a boost from the foul line, making 13 of 22 attempts, while Brodhead made 1 of 2.
