JANESVILLE The Janesville Salvation Army needs eight days and $10,000 to make its holiday season fundraising campaign a success.
The red kettle campaign closed Dec. 24 $18,000 short of its goal, Capt. Kirk Schuetz said.
“We always count on more money coming in after Christmas,’’ he said.
And it has.
But the Salvation Army still is $10,000 short of its $325,000 goal for the season, which ends Jan. 15, he said.
Schuetz is confident the money will be raised.
“I had a phone call yesterday from an anonymous, private foundation in Madison that is willing to match up to $5,000 of contributions that will help us meet that shortfall,’’ he said.
The other $5,000, Schuetz believes, will come from community donations before Jan. 15.
“I’m optimistic we’ll meet that goal,” he said.
