The occupants of this duplex rental unit at 2507 Blackbridge Rd. were arrested for growing pot plants.

The occupants of this duplex rental unit at 2507 Blackbridge Rd. were arrested for growing pot plants.

— Janesville police expected to find evidence of drug dealing when they searched an east side home Tuesday, but what they discovered was perhaps the largest marijuana growing operation in the city’s history.

Inside, three basement rooms were full of marijuana plants. Large artificial lights with timers shined on the crop. Reflective sheets hung on the walls.

Laundry lines with clothespins were strung upstairs to dry plants. An exhaust system was used to air fumes. Packaging materials were abundant.

In all, 147 plants were seized, totaling more than 72 pounds of marijuana. It could have been a cash crop, harvested every few months. Marijuana would have been sold to area dealers, who would have resold it on the streets.

The operation was big enough it could have become the city’s first, large homegrown supplier. Typically, drugs in Rock County come from the Chicago, to Rockford, Ill., to Beloit pipeline.

“We had no idea how extensive it would be,” Sgt. Jim Holford said. “This is one of the larger, if not the largest, growing operations in the city of Janesville.”

Rashann M. Henderson, 30, and Andrea R. Meyer, 25, are suspected of growing the drugs in their home at 2507 Black Bridge Road.

Henderson was arrested on charges of manufacture or delivery of marijuana, maintaining a drug trafficking place, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Meyer was arrested on charges of manufacture or delivery of marijuana, maintaining a drug trafficking place and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Henderson and Meyer appeared in Rock County Court on Wednesday. Henderson was ordered held in the Rock County Jail on $28,000 bond, and Meyer was ordered held on $2,100 bond.

Police knew for a while of a possible growing operation in the area, but they didn’t have a specific address, Holford said.

Investigators received tips of suspicious behavior and increased traffic in and out of the house, Holford said. Eventually, police had enough information for a search warrant.

Police raided the home at 6 p.m. The marijuana they found ranged from 2-inch seedlings to 54-inch plants. Their street value was $75,000.

Police also found packaged cocaine, a 9mm pistol, a scale, a marijuana-smoking pipe attached to a gas mask, fertilizer and $248 cash. A plastic container labeled “Halloween” held fans, soil, a thermostat and timer.

The bust is expected to significantly reduce the amount of marijuana available on the streets, Holford said.

“It’s hard to quantify percentage wise, but 72 pounds of marijuana off the street is a significant amount, especially when it’s sold in grams,” Holford said.

I AM THE TRUTH...LET ME TELL YOU A LITTLE ABOUT RONI HE HAS HAD A MESSED UP LIFE AND HAS TRIED TO MAKE IT IN THIS WORLD WITH GETTING A JOB EVERYONE MAKES MISTAKES AND IF IT WASNT FOR HIS RECORD HE WOULD HAVE HAD A JOB!!!! BUT BECAUSE ALL PEOPLE DO IS JUDGE THAT DOESNT GIVE HIM AN OPPERTUNITY TO TRY TO BE A GOOD PERSON IN THIS WORLD AND TO DO THE RIGHT THINGS!!! HE IS A VERY SWEET PERSON AND TAKES GREAT CARE OF HIS SON THAT IS NOW 7YRS OLD AND MISSES HIS DADDY VERY MUCH...now for some people that might not seem like much but to me im not going to get into details about him being a father lets just say it takes a real man to raise a son that isnt biologiclly his how ever you spell it... also want to say that andrea is no way not guilty she had every part in this situation and deserves to be punished as well she says she doesnt do drugs come on now who's in denial me or u or should i say her... yes andrea is a good person but she made the mistake as well as anyone else by allowing that in her home and also smoking it...thats probably why they didnt make that much money cause they smoked it all daylong... AND TO COMMENT ON THE PERSON THAT SAID TAKE HAIR SAMPLES AND URINE SAMPLES MAYBE U SHOULD...AS FAR AS BEING IN A DOMESTIC SITUATION IT WORKS ON BOTH SIDES SHE WAS NO SAINT GOING AROUND BREAKING GLASS AND THROWING TABLE AROUND IN FRONT OF HIS SON WHAT KINDA OF PERSON DOES THAT??!!!! AS FAR AS BEING BEATEN I DONT BELIEVE THAT SURE PEOPLE PUSH AND SHOVE WHO'S TO SAY SHE DIDNT... AND IF SHE WANTED OUT THAT BAD SHE WOULD HAVE LET HIM GO INSTEAD OF BEING SO FAR UP HIS YOU KNOW WHAT THAT HE COULDNT EVEN TALK ON THE PHONE WITH OUT HER LOOKING OVER HIS SHOULDER....AND EVERY WHERE HE WENT SHE HAD TO GO... SO IM SPEAKING THE TRUTH AND WHAT I SAID IS TRUE EVERYONE MAKES MISTAKES BUT IT TAKES A REAL MAN OR WOMEN TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND TAKE RESPONSIBITLY FOR THEIR OWN ACTIONS...

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, unfortunately, none of the people here that support the person in this case that is already a convicted FELON and has now been charged with a FELON POSSESSING A GUN probably never finished school as they can not write with the proper grammar and or punctuation. You can say what ever you want about anyone that you want; you will NEVER win over me or anyone else that KNOWS Andrea. She has NEVER been convicted of a crime in her life. You should see the shape of 'his' dog- the dog that this MONSTER has been BEATING for months; it is afraid of it's own shadow, yet it absolutely LOVES Andrea. You are so wrong; you don't know the half of it. Wake up people. This IS a case of domestic violence; he has already been convicted of multiple crimes, including domestic violence and a FELONY, in another state. History always repeats itself.

Come On Now,If Roni Hit Her She Would Still Have Tha Marks To Prove It.It Is Her House So She Should Be Getting In More Trouble Then He Is.Some Of You Might Think Andrea Is An Angle Sent From Above But Trust Me,She Is Far From It.She Does A Lot Of Things That She Keeps A Secret.Im Not Goin Ta Say Any Of Them Because I Want This To Be Read By Everyone And Not Deleted.

Jessica2623- It breaks my heart, too. She is sooo naive. God works in mysterious ways....He got her away from him, out of the situation, and she is now safe...we just have to give her emotional support, guide her to find a good counselor, and make sure there are no bad people that try to enter her life again...it's so hard to let young women out on their own because there are many people (I think) that prey on young, naive women like Andrea to take advantage of, abuse, etc. We need to keep the faith, keep her in our prayers....thanks for your support:)

Balance-I wasn't aware of domestic violence being a factor in what has happened. I can NOW understand why something like this could happen to her. I have talked to her a few times in the last year and had suspected something was "off." I only wish there was something I could have done. If only she was able to reach out to someone for help. This really just breaks my heart.

SarahB1- Andrea is not now and has never been 'addicted' to drugs. I spoke with her just the other day and she said 'anyone can take anything they want- blood, hair, nails, anything- they won't find drugs'. What has happened here is a CLASSIC case of domestic violence. The things that went on in that apartment would make most of your stomachs churn. She has been trapped in a hypothetical, mental and physical way for a long time. She recently had reached out to people that came over to the apartment to ask quietly 'help me-I can't get out of here' and had been attempting to try to get out. Anyone who knows about domestic violence will be able to relate...those who don't will merely say 'yah, right'. Thank you Jessica2623 for voicing what those that know Andrea say- She would NEVER do anything like this...I would like to think that after she is recovered from this traumatic chapter in her life, she will go on to be a powerful voice/advocate for those that suffer from domestic violence. God has definately been looking out for her and we are so thankful. Prayers to her and her friends and family....

I have known the young female who was arrested for most of my life. I considered her "family" all throughout my elementary and high school years. Although we haven't really stayed in touch over the last few years, the Andrea I remember would NEVER do something like this. I am completely SHOCKED!

She is a college-educated person, and very bright. She has ALWAYS had a job, until recent. She is NOT on public aid, has no children (as speculated by another blogger) She also comes from a wonderful family. I have to assume that her romantic involvement with the male individual is mostly to blame for her arrest, and the many bad decisions that led up to it.

I understand that people make their own decisions, I just don't understand how someone like her could be involved in something like this. My thoughts and prayers are with her and her family.

You don't read well. I did not say victimless. Just not directly in this case. He lives next to a school. there are possible victims. WHY wont you understand this. He assaulted SEVEN kids and had POT in possession. My guess he was high!

SO if it is going ot happen anyway then WHY legalize it? In this case the only reason is a tax benefit. How many more may start up growing and turn out like the guy and girl that wouldn't have if still illegal. No way to answer this , true, unless make it legal. But nothing will change.

It doesn't appear that the responcible ones get arrested often. People like these two do. A felon with coke, a gun and growing pot illegally. Real nice. If you were a felon I suggest you try to get a job at Mc D to start and stop doing illegal things.

thekid3477, you may recall that I support decriminalization of cannabis usage, but the reason for that is directly related to the concerns about criminal involvement including unsavory traffic and violence. vatoloco~Really??? Seriousely??

First off, this goes towards the whole Nature VS Nurture debate. A man raised without someone to guide them, to teach them right from wrong, will have a difficult time acting in a socially correct way.

I grew up on the southside of Chicago, in and out of foster care. Many nights I went to bed hungry. If I hadn't been almost killed when I was 18 and left Chicago, I very well could have ended up in prison myself. I was on that path.

I do not know this man's past. However, he was armed and had cocaine in his possession. A potentially dangerous combination. He has adjusted to a subculture of our society that has its own rules. I am glad he is off the street and that the JPD brought him to justice without anyone getting harmed.

Devilsadvocate~This was a very sophisticated operation. I have seen programs of "homegrown weed" that is especially potent because of hybrid and genetic modification. The Discovery Channel has in depth reports of some of the "special" marijuana whose THC potency is 75 times greater than that of what was smoked in the 1960's.

Darwin, guess you don't read so well.

NEver said anyone "should be in jail." What I did say was that if you believe a law is wrong, work to change it, just like the Kid is doing. In the meantime, realize that it IS the law, and if you choose to break it, you run the risk of being arrested. Pretty simple.

To equate the actions of the Founding Fathers-who realized full well that what they were doing put them at risk of losing not just their liberty, but their lives, with the actions of a recidivist drug dealer is just a bit out of whack.

I'll skip the insults that seem to be the stock-in-trade of so many who can't seem to understand that mayhap others views are as valid as their own. Truthfully, I can respect teh Kid for standing up for what he believes in, but I can only pity those whose only argument is "you don't agree with me so you must be (fill in your favorite adjective).

SG is the perfect example of the ignorance in this country. He clearly has no understanding of how our system of checks and balances works. The law was never meant to be blindly enforced. Drug laws are enforced because the police get to seize property. Currently, there are over ten thousand federal laws. Who knows them all? You could be breaking the law right now and not even know it. Law and order freaks are just that. They all aspire to be little Napoleons. Our own country's declaration of independence was an act of treason against the crown. According to SG, they broke the law and should be in jail. Why do you hate the founding fathers SG?

Why does this all come back to legalizing, or not legalizing, weed?

This guy is a scumbag, period. Got nothing to do with the herb, it's all about the coke and the fact that he armed himself to deal in it.

Far as the legal status of pot, and enforcing the laws, and blah blah blah, yes, until the law is changed, it should be enforced. The kid, and anyone else who cares to, should absolutely be free to work towards decrim, or legalization, or whatever they feel the solution should be. They should also be prepared to accept the consequences of their actions if they get popped. No whining allowed.

I quit smoking 20 years ago for that reason-as long as you're a stoner, and the laws are what they are, you're a pop whenever a L.E.O. decides it's time. Who needs the grief? My personal decision was that I don't NEED the weed, so I quit. Haven't touched it since. Who knows, if the Kid has his way, and we have Smoke Shops opening, maybe I'll try it again! Naaaaaah.

Should enforcement of pot laws be a priority? Personally, I don't believe that for personal consumption they should be, but no matter what is said about peace-loving hippies, most of the dope sold in the States comes in over the border, and there is nothing peace-loving about the people who are supplying it, whether they live in B.C. or T.J.

actually davvic, if you read my previous posts i talk about the fact that ive only ever bought pot from peace loving hippies. there is PLENTY being grown and passed around outside of the 'criminal element'. i was merely agreeing for aguments sake. the fact is these people are the exception to the rule. there are LOTS of responsible adults in this town who smoke pot at night who dont associate with criminals. sure there are obviously some, but thats life. my point was stop blaming us for the criminal element when you dont give us a safe alternative...

thekid - "the criminal element that surrounds marijuana is FORCED on us by the drug policies." That is the most convoluted reasoning I've ever heard! Did you just have a toke or has pot paranoia kicked in? Are you saying then that all pot dealers are also dealing in hard drugs? Why aren't there any peace loving, mellow, laid back potheads out there supplying their fellow comrades with the pot they need and therefor distancing themselves from the "criminal element". That way no one would have to FORCE you to associate with them. If you guys spent as much time growing and distributing marijuana to each other as you do rallying for legalization of the stuff you'd have yourselves a booming business and the cops could concentrate on the hardcore drug dealers and everybody would be alot happier, including the cops.

This has impacted me as she is a close family member. I cannot begin to express the devastation this has brought to my family. This young female expresses a cry for help in her mug shot. However, I am relieved that she is now apart from this monster of a "man". All I pray for is her health and wellness day by day. I grew up with her and she was always like a sister. Never has she been an individual to devise such plans to get by in life, she has always had better things going for her. The trouble is this monster emotionally and physically has abused her since DAY ONE... this past year has ruined her outlook on love and what life has to offer. I pray that she gets the help she needs... and he gets charged for abusing her so terribly. It upsets me so that this is how she had to get away, however I am a strong believer of "things happen for a reason." This monster has priors and controlled her every move... I pray that the law punishes him to the max for abusing her... Please keep her and her family in your prayers

Appreciate your thoughts...sad doesn't even begin to convey the emotions- domestic violence happens to alot of people- it doesn't care what your income, age, education, ethnicity, or background is. It can destroy one's wishes, dreams, spirit and love for life in an instant. I almost think the real story here is domestic violence, not a pot bust. I knew her when she was little, watched her grow into a beautiful young woman ( you all should see her when she's not so distraught as the mug shot) and have watched her life spiral out of control since she met this MONSTER. No one would have ever imagined this happening to her. Getting bullied and intimidated by a monster can take it's toll. Please everyone, keep her and her family in your prayers...

How come so many people on here attack illegal aliens for "breaking the law" by coming into the United States but do not see growing, smoking and distributing marijuana as "breaking the law"? Just curious here ... both can be seen as a drain on the economy (for different reasons obviously). What happened to the oft-written gripe on these Gazette blogs that "a law is a law" and breaking it is wrong no matter what? (Unfortunately, I remain somewhat undecided on both the alien and marijuana issues.)

This is so unlike her nature- sure everyone likes to party alittle- and she has (havent we all) but having all that pot in the basement like an operation? She would NEVER be involved with anything like that. Everyone in her family has been crying their eyes out since this arrest has happened. Yes, it's good it happened, she finally got away from him. But the impact he has had on her life could be measured not only by the emotional and physical scars, but also by 10-15 years in prison. Everyone that knows her is totally heartbroken. Hopefully she won't have to do that much time. If she does, the only comfort is hoping that she will be safe(r) in a woman's prison than with him, and hopefully she'll get some post traumatic stress disorder treatment.....

JPD busts 2nd growing operation:

On Wednesday, Janesville police also executed a search warrant at a residence at 421 N. Oakhill Ave. as part of an investigation stemming from an incident that occurred on Jan. 3, when a full marijuana plant was discovered in a vehicle registered to the resident of 421 N. Oakhill Ave.
Janesville police said that search warrant resulted in the discovery of an elaborate indoor marijuana grow operation. Authorities said they seized 95 live marijuana plants in various stages of development.
Investigators said the plants seized could have yielded 47.5 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $48,000. Police said there were an additional 45 marijuana plants that had died from lack of care

thanx etown. i spew nothing but the truth. simply because what i do is not wrong and most certainly should not be illegal. if we had no marijuana laws in place, and i discovered the plant and came to anyone and said 'look, this is a plant we could use as bio-mass for fuel, and because its a weed it will actually grow anywhere without fertilizers. oh, people dieing from aids or cancer who need some appetite, all they have to do is eat a little bit of the flowers and all the sudden they want to eat. it halts the spread of breast cancer. lab studies have shown it to actually REVERSE CANCEROUS TUMORS. a guy in canada claims it will cure cancer. we can use it for paper instead of oxygen producing trees. sure it makes you feel lightheaded, or 'high' when you eat it, but nothing compared to alcohol and thats THE WORST you feel from it. you can make food from it. clothing that last waaaaay longer than cotton clothing. what do you think??' the answer would be 'holy expletive expletive expletive mr kid, i dont even care where you found it, or how you know it will do all these things, if even half of what you say is true you have just found the answer to a lot of peoples problems'

id be a millionaire and hero in no time. but because congress debated for 90 SECONDS IN 1937 and decided, for political reasons only, that 'marihuana' needed to be prohibited for fear of the mexicans and blacks that were the main consumers plus the 'reefer madness' campaign that went along with it, its STILL illegal for me to sit on my couch and smoke a bowl. HURTING NOT ONE OTHER LIVING EXPLETIVE SOUL. the law was enacted based on misinformation and race. the law needs to be repealed. any other law that was misinformed and based on race has been gone for a while now.

No, but you seem to be defending these ones because "it should be legal" well it isn't. Where would you draw the line as far as what is acceptable criminal behavior? ?That is why there is a law. For right now it is illegal. I am done! People will be punished. You may get caught some day and you will pay your fine and move on. Until it is legal that is the risk you take. They are taking a BIGGER risk than you. They will also be punished bigger than you. I have no problem with you trying to get the law passed for it to be legal. As you can see this other guy is a scary person and I for one wouldn't want him living next to me "just cause he smokes some pot". Seems there is more to it than that. Could it be because of the pot? Maybe? Could be one of those that can't handle his (alcohol) pot. Those people get arrested as well. You don't see people protesting to let it be okay to drunk drive and kill people. It is against the law. The alcohol is legal and fine maybe there will be less problems with pot if legal but there still will be I have no doubt about it. I guess that is one of my arguments against it. Because it will not get rid of all the problems. So I guess you could call me " on the fence" Okay, now I am done.

420hardrock - Thanks for the post. I was thinking the exact same thing. People do not get all crazy smoking pot like they do drinking alcohol. They worst they do is sit on the couch, laugh, eat then fall asleep. How is that harming anyone?

Suggest removal You're funny Dale:) Given the choice to have neighbors that looked like these two, along with guns, drugs, and the traffic described, I would MUCH rather have that house sit empty.......

I'll second that!
Let it sit, condemn it, then I will have a nice park next to me!

If they are in there smoking sometimes like KID not bothering anybody, not partying loud, then I don't care.
Dalegribble- we don't need to judge how they look. All I need to know is that they are criminals.
When they get out they can rehab at YOUR house and start up the biz again!

"Go to your local health food or organic market and buy some hemp seeds to scatter, you'll see how easy of a hobby it is."
Basics will be busy today haha.

Kid"there would be probably 3 different rooms for the different stage plants."(sorry fixed your dif by accident)
They said THREE rooms in the basement were full. So they have the three different rooms just to stupid or uneducated to know where to put the plants? Funny isn't it.

On Holmes on Homes a HUGE bust was made. He was there to fix the DESTOYED rental property. The pots of dirt were left behind. My guess they weighted the CUT OFF plants.

Hardrock- God put a lot of plants on this earth. I don't suggest you smoke or even touch some of them. Sorry bad example if you ask me!
Want some castor bean? God made it, I am sure it is safe for you to eat! NOT!

Dalegribble- HE IS A FELON. Not sure if you read his charge list for this crime. So you really want him as your neighbor? I'm sure he has a fine attitude as well!

Cute to see those plastic cups everyone buys for partys. Walmart special, 16oz red! What an embarrassing looking garden though, bummer for them they put a picture of it up. lol
This isn't any sort of "talent", don't forget it's called weed for a reason.=) That does not look like a happy garden =( Anyone can grow a weed! lol

JAG. his point is that from the plants they show there wont be 75 lbs. i think we all can agree on that. you are right though, it doesnt say if they found some already dried, or drying, so yes, unless one of us was there we dont know exactly how much pot they found. its speculation. my blogging doesnt make me an expert. ive never said it does or should. im not an expert. my life experiences make me knowledgable on the subject...but expert?? ive never made the claim. lets see if we can get the gazette to do a quick poll.

Marijuana used to be the #1 cash crop in the United States until the government decided to make it illegal. They also did the same thing with alcohol but changed their minds. HMMM? How many times have you read the news and seen a DUI for weed or a death resulting in weed. NEVER! How many times have you read about alcohol related arrest? EVERYDAY! Somebody explain to me why weed is different from alcohol. God made weed and put it on this earth. We have to "make" alcohol. I think it is a double standard. If you dont like weed. DONT SMOKE IT!

thekid: You really think all your blogging on how pot should be legal makes you an expert? and as I have told you before you don't have to be a pot head to know how things work. I will agree this may not be the biggest growing house in janesville but maybe the biggest one to date found, but it does look like they put time and effort into it. dalegibble wasn't at this bust, he has NO clue as to the amount of pot or if it was 72 lbs with or without the dirt and for you to agree with him just so it makes your point look beeter just shows how desperate you are to have fellow pot heads to join your cause.

JAG: look at that one pic. ALL size of plants are right there. thats not how it should be done. this room should be filled with plants all the same size. there would be probably 3 dift rooms for the dift stage plants. seed to harvest is about 4 months. then you have a fourth room, as they had a second, to dry the buds. me personally id also have a 5th room to smoke the hell out of it after room 4:)

good point dale. there is no way this is anything like what they describe. cash operation harvested every couple of months and they only found $248?? right. a good operation would have rooms for the dift stages of growth. they have one room here with all the plants inside. trust me JPD, and im not from here remember, but i promise you there are bigger, better, more sophisticated grow ops in THIS TOWN. these guys were renters. how big could they get?? this is like taking a jug of water out of lake michigan and watching for the level to drop...

thanx mr marley. im no legend. im a lover of the herb who has taken the time to learn the plant and all its positives and negatives and i, sometimes unfortunately:), have the time to spread the message. what we do is not wrong and most def should not be illegal. ive met and smoked with several people from this website. one of my really good friends came from the gazette. a few more promises to smoke with. im not surprised in the least that you get ridiculed for wanting to know the true story. ummm this is a NEWSpaper yes?? its not unreasonable to ask, and it certainly isnt 'pissing and moaning' to want to know which report is correct.

Here we go again... No, it will have exactly zero effect on the supply of marijuana on the streets. Why must someone always make this absurd statement?
