The Janesville School District's payments to the Wisconsin Retirement System don't need to keep escalating, according to one school board member.

Commissioner Kevin Murray tells WCLO's Stan Milam Show the school board will consider its options at an ad-hoc meeting Friday. He says the district is paying $800 thousand annually on top of its regular payments to the Wisconsin Retirement System.

Murray says the district can pay $17.5 million now to take care of the debt, or keep making minimum payments and end up paying more than $21 million by 2029.
