WCLO's Steve Benton reports the Janesville police department finds a second marijuana grow operation

RSS

— Janesville police officials say they're extremely pleased with the investigations leading to the arrest of three suspects and the closing of two, separate, marijuana growing operations.

Sgt. Jim Holford is supervisor of the Street Crimes Unit, which handled the investigations. He says it was a "fluke" that they found the two grow operations on two consecutive days this week.

Holford says the investigations tell him that the three suspects may be selling their illegal product locally, and to areas outside the city.

He says there is no evidence to indicate the suspects knew each other or that the operations were connected.

Holford says they'll continue to look for other illegal drug activity but says they probably won't find a 3rd grow operation any time soon.

Some might even go so far as to say that a few are "pseudo-intellects" ;)

To all people who try and talk to the burnt brains in here you are wasting your time as they DO NOT comprehend a word of sense as they have none. I am glad that the JPD has opened a few cans of worms with these busts as the ones that got busted will turn over a few more to save their own azz and the paper will be booming with a few more success stories and the supply will go down and The price will go up and maybe we will get lucky and the ones who use for medicinal purposes will have to cancel their cable and internet ( as money is needed for their pain and pleasure)and we wont have to hear them support and promote this illegal substance. And some said it isn't a gateway drug well look, it is a gateway now, to more being brought down. Drop a dime, get less the time,

i have two young kids as well. i assume like most parents you stress to them the value of not talking to strangers and certainly the danger of going into a strangers house yes?? these people have no interest in yours or my youngsters. the gun and traffic would scare me a bit yes, but as ive stated before...the answer to that problem is the same anwer to my problem. legalize it. let uncle sam regulate it so there are licensed growers/dealers who will be forced to ask for id and also be forced to commercial property...off of your block. i have no doubt people will still grow in their own home illegally, but being legal will drive down the market value and pretty much eliminate the criminal element that surrounds it. people still make their own beer but no one cares cuz its all over, and the brewers certainly dont feel the need to protect themselves with arms.

yeah hollynfaith. where do you get off with your logic and worrying about drugs that kill?? we must rid the world of the plant that doesnt before we worry about harder drugs;)

they said it was a 'fluke'. well duh. every grow op they find is a fluke or cuz someone dimed it out. the DEA does 'detective' work. the local barneys fifes stumble on stuff, admit it was a fluke and still brag.

fyi cubhunter: the people who would have bought pot from any of these people have already contacted their next available source. this was akin to taking a jug of water out of lake michigan and expecting the level to drop...

are you serious holly? 2 huge huge growbusts and its not enough to pat themselves on the back? do you think they dont want to get to the root of the heroin and prescription drug problem? i think that you might want to think about your comments before you enter it for everyone to read. they said it may be the biggest in town history. great job JPD and keep up the great investigating

Really? They are suprised? Look around. You can't throw a stone in certain parts of this town without hitting someone with drugs on them. When they are done patting themselves on the back, I hope they don't forget that Heroin and prescription drugs are still being abused by our youth at record levels.
