Big Foot boys roll past Brodhead, other scores

Walworth Big Foot turned up the tempo in the second half Tuesday night and ran away from Brodhead in a key Rock Valley South boys basketball game.


The Chiefs pulled away from a 30-26 halftime lead by doubling up the visiting Cardinals, 18-9, in the third quarter and went on to a 67-44 victory that kept them atop of the South Division at 4-0.


Alec McGreevy led the way with 19 points as Big Foot (5-3) notched its fifth straight win and dropped defending champion Brodhead to 2-2 in the South and 5-3 for the season. Overall, the Chiefs got scoring from seven players, including 10 points for Steve Dowden and nine apiece for Michael Walker and Nathan Nagel.


J.J. Panoske led Brodhead with 19 points but was nine below his league-leading average. Michael Peterson added 10 points for the Cardinals.

Melton had 32 points to lead all scorers, while Naatz finished with 25.


Parkview (7-3, 3-1) outscored Clinton 20-12 in the third quarter to take a commanding 13-point lead.


Chandler Stevenson and Cody Risseeuw scored 14 points each to lead Clinton (3-5, 2-3).

-- McFarland 66, Evansville 58—Jordan Wink scored all seven of his points in the fourth quarter to keep McFarland ahead of host Evansville (5-4, 3-1), which fell into a tie with East Troy for the Rock Valley North lead.


The Blue Devils got within three points with about three minutes left, but Wink helped the Spartans (3-5, 1-3) secure their first conference win.


Brian Lunde scored 12 of the Blue Devils’ 14 points in the final quarter. Lunde finished with 19, while teammate Casey Mosley had 10.

Scot Beckwith scored a game-high 19 points, and teammate Tanner Plomb added 15 for the Trojans (4-3, 3-1). Tyler Tomczak scored 10 points for Jefferson (1-5, 0-4).
