Delavan-Darien girls recover from early blast, other scores

Wilmot’s Senior Night caught visiting Delavan-Darien by surprise Tuesday.

The fired-up Panthers rolled to a 20-12 first-quarter lead, but the Comets recovered to post a 56-36 Southern Lakes Conference girls basketball victory.

Alana Cesarz scored 14 of her game-high 24 points in the first half.

Michelle Wenzel scored 11 points and grabbed 17 rebounds for the Comets, while Courtney Flood chipped in 10 points. Jackie Herman scored 15 points for Wilmot.

Stephanie Rank scored 15 points to lead Waterford, which trails first-place Union Grove by one game in the Lakes standings.

Elkhorn’s Sarah Woellert led all scorers with 18 points.
