Arrests

-- JACOB HEIDER, 22, of 710 McEwan Lane, Milton, at 11:30 p.m. Sunday in the 1400 block of Riverside Drive, Janesville, on a charge of substantial battery after a fight at Mz. Grizz, 721 Center Ave., Janesville. He is accused of punching a man in the face, causing the man to lose consciousness. The man also suffered a cut to his lip, which required stitches.


-- EUGENE C. PHILIPPI, 32, of 316 E. Racine St., Janesville, at 12:35 p.m. Saturday at the Rock County Sheriff’s Office on two charges of forgery. He is accused of using someone else’s checks to make purchases at Kwik Trip.


-- RYAN L. CLARK, 23, of 10406 S. Highway 140, Clinton, at 1:50 p.m. Friday at the Rock County Sheriff’s Office on a charge of possession of a firearm.


-- RANDELL S. SOERGEL, 47, of 4504 E. Milton-Harmony Townline Road, Milton, at 11:35 a.m. Thursday at his home on a charge of physical abuse of a child. He is accused of grabbing a 13-year-old boy and pushing him over a couch and onto the floor, causing an injury to the boy’s shoulder.


-- STEVEN J. SMITH, 25, of 155 Yorkshire Lane, Janesville, at 11:20 a.m. Monday at home on a charge of substantial battery and strangulation.

-- ALFREDO RAMIREZ, 23, Beloit, at 4:37 a.m. Sunday at the Janesville Police Department.


-- ANDREW J. MCLAUGHLIN, 22, Machesney Park, Ill., at 2:51 a.m. Sunday at Morse Street and Milton Avenue, Janesville.


-- JACOB M. MARESCH, 20, of 5225 S. Arch St., Janesville, at 1:06 a.m. Sunday on River Road north of Avalon Road, Janesville. Also ticketed for operating without a valid driver’s license and operating left of center.


-- BENJAMIN M. FREEMAN, 31, of 5933 N. Violet View Drive, Milton, at 11:56 p.m. Wednesday on Highway 51 north of Inverness Drive, Fulton Township. Also ticketed for non-registration and defective headlamps.

-- BURGLARY, to an apartment in the 300 block of Madison Street, Janesville, reported at 1:50 p.m. Sunday. Nothing was reported stolen.


-- DANGEROUS WEAPON OTHER THAN GUN AT SCHOOL reported at 9:20 a.m. Friday at Franklin Middle School, Janesville. A student brought a knife to school.

-- PEARL STREET SOUTH OF ELIZABETH STREET, Janesville, at 8:51 p.m. Wednesday, a car driven by Edward C. Herndon, 44, of 3809 La Mancha Drive, Janesville, rear-ended a parked car owned by Robert C. Beese of 1832 Hoover St., Janesville. A passenger in Herndon’s vehicle, Jasmine A. Knutson, 20, of 816 Sherman Ave., Janesville, was treated and released from Mercy Hospital, Janesville.
