WCLO's Stan Stricker reports on Milton Police efforts to education public on illicit prescription drug use

A local community plans to tackle the issue of illicit prescription drug use by children.

As recreational prescription drug use among young people appears to be gaining in popularity, the Milton Police Department plans to organize a community educational campaign. Police Lieutenant John Conger says the group "Today Not Tomorrow" tries to teach healthy choices, and is helping in the effort. A 13-year-old Edgerton Middle Schooler's prescription drug overdose death earlier this month is prompting the police to prepare the community wide program in the hopes of preventing a similar tragedy. A town hall program is planned for adults first, with a school based presentation for the kids to follow.

The programs are planned for early next month.
