Parkview's Hauri becomes state wrestling qualifier
Alex Hauri saved his best for last Saturday.
The Orfordville Parkview High Schookl freshman pinned Dodgeville’s Trevor Wunnicke in 32 seconds of the 103-pound title match to win the Richland Center Sectional title and a berth in the WIAA Division 2 state tournament next weekend at the Kohl Center in Madison.
Hauri (34-4) is one of six area wrestlers to qualify for state out of the Richland Center Sectional but was the only sectional champion.
Delavan-Darien’s John Benzon was second at 145, while teammate Kyndle Bennett was second at 140.
Clinton’s Daniel Banh (112) and Brandon Wixom (125) each finished third to advance, along with Hunter Colden of Brodhead/Juda at 145.
Jefferson’s Vince Racanelli advanced after finishing third at 152.
East Troy’s Jacob Zess won the Division 2 Milwaukee Lutheran Sectional at 140 pounds, while the Trojans’ Steve Edwards also advanced after finishing second at 130.
Jake Stilling of Elkhorn advanced to state in Division 1 after finishing second at 152 pounds at the Oconomowoc Sectional.
