Lizzi Strassman scored two goals in the final 6½ minutes to lead Stoughton past Rock County, 4-3, in a WIAA Division 1 regional girls hockey game Thursday at Beloit.

The Fury took a 3-2 lead on Abby Collins’ goal just 1:07 into the third period. Strassman then scored with 6½ minutes left, then scored the game-winner with 1:16 left.

“We did everything we had to do but win,” said Darrel Moore, Fury coach. “That happens sometimes in hockey. We outshot them by 10 and held their leading scorer (Shanda Roeming) to one assist.”

Jordyn Tremain and Maci Weiser scored the other Fury goals. Samantha Sheldon and Haley Bayreuther each had two assists.

“We played them the week before, and we didn’t do too well,” Moore said. “But our girls did a tremendous job.

“We went three games without an assist, and tonight we had two assists for each of our goals,” Moore said. “I have no regrets about this season.”
