— A Clinton man was in custody Monday at the Rock County Jail after a standoff Sunday night in Clinton Township.

Officers from six law enforcement agencies responded to 10406 S. Highway 140 after receiving a report of an armed subject inside the house.

Randy A. Clark, 49, Clinton, was arrested on charges of domestic recklessly endangering safety, domestic disorderly conduct and a felony warrant from Rockford, Ill., according to a Rock County Sheriff’s Office press release.

Rock County deputies, officers from the Clinton Police Department and troopers from the Wisconsin State Patrol were dispatched at 10:06 p.m. Sunday to Clark’s house, according to the release.

Reports to police indicated Clark was intoxicated and might have fired a gunshot inside the house. Two people escaped the house by jumping out a second-story window, according to the release.

The Rock County and Beloit SWAT teams along with deputies and an armored vehicle from the Dane County Sheriff’s Office were called to assist, according to the release.

Members of a negotiations team eventually made contact with Clark, and he surrendered shortly after 1:30 a.m. Monday, according to the release.

Deputies found that Clark had a loaded rifle, but it had not been fired, according to the release.
