Cody Iverson collected a hat trick, and Cody Stettin had a goal and two assists to lead the Janesville Bluebirds to a 4-2 Big Eight Conference win at the Janesville Ice Skating Center on Thursday night.

After a 2-2 tie after two periods, Stettin scored at the 5:01 mark of the third period, and Iverson put the Spartans away with his third goal at the 10:57 mark.

“All of our goals were really unselfish,” Bluebird coach John Mauermann said.

Stettin’s go-ahead goal was set up when Iverson gathered up the puck as he was leaving the penalty box. Iverson slid the puck to Stettin, who returned the puck to set up the goal.

The Janesville defense allowed just three Spartan shots in the final period.

The Bluebirds, 7-4 in the Big Eight and 11-10 overall, conclude the regular season with a 5:30 p.m. game Saturday at the Janesville Ice Skating Center. Janesville begins WIAA regional tournament play Tuesday with a 7 p.m. home game against Wauwatosa.
