East Troy burns another opponent

Evansville High’s boys basketball team was the latest to get a dose of East Troy’s blistering outside shooting.


The host Trojans (14-3, 11-1) hit 10 three-point goals Thursday night and whipped the second-place Blue Devils, 75-48, to open a four-game lead and clinch a tie for a second straight Rock Valley North championship.


East Troy got four of those three-pointers in an 18-8 first quarter, and the Trojans added three more in a 28-15 third period that made it 61-34.


Brandon Schmidt led East Troy with 21 points, including two three-points. Scot Beckwith hits three times from beyond the arc and scored 13 points.


Casey Moesley led Evansville (9-9, 7-5) with 18 points, and Dylan Erickson had 10.

-- McFarland 48, Edgerton 44—Paul Wedel made the go-ahead basket with 1:14 remaining and added four free throws in the final minute to give the Spartans a Rock Valley North win at Edgerton.


James Runde led McFarland (10-7, 7-5) with 19 points.


Zach Nelson had a game-high 20 for Edgerton (7-11, 5-7), which led by one after three quarters.

-- Whitewater 55, Jefferson 50—Dawson Miller got a basket and two free throws down the stretch to seal Whitewater’s Rock Valley North victory at Jefferson.


Miller’s field goal gave the Whippets (8-10, 6-7) a 53-48 lead. After Max McGowan’s only basket of the game pulled the Eagles within three points, Miller had the free throws that completed the scoring.


Tony Bilderback led Whitewater with 15 points, while Miller and teammate David Shears each had 10.


Tyler Tomczak had a game-high 18 for Jefferson (3-14, 2-11). Sam Nevins and A.J. Neils added 12 apiece.

Marcus Greben led Big Foot with 17 points, and Alec McGreevy added 14.


Kevin McGivern paced Palmyra-Eagle (1-17, 0-12) with a game-high 22 points, including six three-point baskets.

Ross Oldenburg scored 14 points to lead three Cougars in double figures. Chandler Stevenson added 13 points for Clinton (10-8, 7-6) and Cody Risseeuw finished with 12.


Jordan Conway scored a game-high 18 points for Turner (10-7, 6-7).
