Delavan-Darien's Armato makes points count

Mark Armato scored only four points for Delavan-Darien High’s boys basketball team Thursday night, but he made them count.


Armato’s jumper with just over three seconds left to play lifted the Comets to a 58-57 upset of second-place Burlington in a Southern Lakes Conference thriller.


Travis Crayton, who scored nine points in the fourth quarter for Burlington, had a chance to win the game at the buzzer but couldn’t get off the final shot.


Tyler Butke led the Comets (9-7, 6-5) with 25 points, including 15 in the second half. Justin Fowlkes added 15 points for Delavan-Darien, which led 44-40 after three quarters.


Crayton scored 17 points to lead Burlington (12-5, 8-3), which fell three games behind in the loss column to front-running Waterford.

-- Badger 73, Wilmot 65—Lake Genva Badger (5-12, 3-8) hit Wilmot (3-14, 0-10) with a 33-14 blast in the third quarter for a Southern Lake victory on the Panthers court.


Preston Dailey scored 14 points, and Justin Bowers added 10 in the big quarter and the Badgers roared back from a 37-20 halftime deficit.


Bowers, who made 11 of 14 free throws, finished with 29 points. Dailey had 21, and Landon Tenhagen led Wilmot with 19.

The Broncos trailed 29-25 at halftime, but they prevailed with a 37-25 advantage in the final two periods.


Nathan Radke led Union Grove with 17 points. Elkhorn’s Skyler O’Laughlin led all scorers with 19.

With his team trailing 53-46 after three quarters, Case’s Jalen Riley scored eightof his 10 points to help the Eagles force overtime.


Mitchell Farr of Case led all scorers with 28 points.. Beau Steffens led Waterford with 25.
