— Four high-energy acts will highlight this year’s Walworth County Fair, where the theme will be, “Gettin’ Groovy at the fair, can you dig it?”

Fair officials announced main stage music acts will be:

-- Josh Turner with special guest Gloriana.

Turner’s latest release, “Everything is Fine,” is grounded in traditional country music inspired by his grandparents’ album collection, according to his biography on joshturner.com.

His Nashville debut on the Grand Ole Opry stage in December 2001.

The four-person group Gloriana got its start in 2007. Their current, self-titled album will hit stores in August.

-- Singer, songwriter and now record-label owner Gretchen Wilson will release her fourth studio album, “I Got Your Country Right Here,” in March, according to a news release on her Web site, gretchenwilson.com.

Wilson’s first single, “Redneck Woman,” spent six weeks at No. 1 on the country music charts when it was released in 2004. Her last three singles debuted at No. 1.

-- The Beach Boys

In more than 40 years of touring and studio recording, the Beach Boys have racked up dozens of awards and released as many albums.

The band’s first album, “Surfin’” hit the airwaves in 1961.

The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988. In 2001, the band received a lifetime achievement award at the Grammy Awards.

The Walworth County Fair will run from Wednesday, Sept. 1, through Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 6. For tickets and other information, visit walworthcountyfair.com.

GETTIN' GROOVY?? About as backward thinking as the county is. Didn't the phrase "groovy" go out in the 70s?? Sheesh!

The Beach Boys were at Riverfest last year. The other acts I have no desire to see.

How come there's never a poll asking what people want to see? I know there's limited space and funds, but why not?

The fair's been sucking at picking musical acts for a long time now.

I'd like to see more LOCAL bands playing there!

The acts don't fit the theme. Maybe the Beach Boys, maybe not. Get a different theme. Can you dig it?
