The Rock County Sheriff's Office is finding success with a plan to reroute motorists off I-90 when it's forced to close.

A chance to use the plan went into action Tuesday night when a tanker truck overturned blocking both northbound lanes west of Janesville. The turn-arounds, typically used only for emergency vehicles, helped usher motorists into the eastbound lanes and to the nearest detour.

The Interstate was closed for 11 hours following the 8:00 p.m. accident.
